On Tuesday 14th May, BNY Mellon Manchester hosted the quarterly Manchester City Centre Crime Prevention Panel meeting at Piccadilly Gardens, which was attended by the new Panel Patron and Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester, Baroness Beverley Hughes; including the Greater Manchester Police, City Centre Police Commander, Supt. Chris Hill.
Other guests and Panel members included Councillor Nigel Murphy from Manchester City Council and Insp Jon Middleton from the City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team, along with security professionals from the city centre, retail, transport, NCP, Post Office, pub & club, hotel and night-time economy sectors.
While Manchester is a very safe city, the meeting topics included discussions on city centre policing and crime prevention strategies, in support of tackling street robbery, retail crime and anti-social behaviour specific to drug dealing, alcohol abuse, begging and rough sleeping.
The Manchester Crime Prevention Panel meet on a quarterly basis in order to provide relevant security information and solutions to the public, provided by members who have a strong background within the security sector and in wider support of Greater Manchester Police.
